At the May 13 meeting the Vernon County Board of Health received routine operational reports from health department staff.
Coroner's report: For April the coroner reported 26 deaths, including 21 cremations and 5 burials; there were zero entombments or green burials. The month produced $960.00 in income against $1,543.87 in expenses.
Environmental and sanitarian updates: County sanitarian staff are actively working with two properties to remediate health hazards. The department reported a new memorandum of understanding with Crawford County Jail to perform kitchen inspections under the agent program. License-renewal notices were mailed to all agent-program license holders; payments are due June 30.
WIC updates: Vernon County WIC will undergo a management evaluation in October. Staff reported food-package changes that took effect in April, and that the county breastfeeding peer counselor will provide shadowing hours for a new peer working with Monroe County WIC. Farmers Market participation was also noted.
No board action was recorded on these operational updates during the meeting.
