Lebanon approves shared-services policing agreements with regional and local schools

Lebanon Township's Committee on Aug. 21 approved shared-services agreements to provide law enforcement support to nearby school districts.
Under Resolution No. 134-2024 the township will provide a School Resource Officer (SRO) to the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District for a cost of $110,670 for a term through June 30, 2025; the agreement requires adoption by both governmental units and execution to take effect. Ms. Beverly Koehler summarized how the cost was calculated during discussion.
The Committee also approved Resolution No. 135-2024 to assign Class II or Class III Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEOs) to Voorhees High School for amounts not to exceed $77,013 per SLEO, and Resolution No. 136-2024 to assign SLEOs to Woodglen and Valley View schools for amounts not to exceed $74,963 per SLEO, both for terms through June 30, 2025. Each resolution states insurance and indemnification terms and identifies the township as the primary employer of the assigned officers.
All three resolutions passed unanimously. The agreements will take effect once the appropriate resolution is adopted by both the township and each school district and the parties execute the contracts.
