Greene County commissioners approve fleet purchases, grants and budget transfers

The Greene County Board of Commissioners on June 4 approved a series of routine resolutions that authorize grant funds, contracts and equipment purchases for county operations.
Commissioner Richard D. Gould moved and Commissioner Sarah J. Mays seconded multiple measures that passed on unanimous roll calls with Commissioner Tom Koogler voting aye on each. The actions included authorizing the County Engineer to buy five Freightliner SD114 chassis at $161,161 each (total $805,805) from Stoops Freightliner of Dayton and five Henderson dump bodies and outfitting at $111,646 each (total $558,230) from Henderson Products, both bought through state contract vehicles.
The board approved Non‑Emergency Medicaid Transportation (NET) Program contracts for SFY2027: a $425,000 contract with the Transit Board and a separate $425,000 contract with the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center, covering the period July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. The commissioners also established two short‑term grant funds for the Sheriff’s Office: Fund 2613 (2023 grant) totaling $45,370.90 and Fund 2614 (2026 grant) totaling $42,247.93.
Commissioners authorized a Request for Proposals for law‑enforcement surveillance trailers for the Sheriff’s Office with proposals due June 25, 2026 and an estimated budget of $150,000. The board also declared a Glock Model G45 service weapon surplus and approved its private sale to retired Deputy Alan Engle for $651.55 under the deputies’ bargaining agreement, and authorized Juvenile Court to sell other surplus items via GovDeals if they do not sell at auction.
Other routine matters approved included amendments to the travel/training policy (raising the daily meal reimbursement from $45 to $50), an Environmental Review Certification for the PY26 CDBG Critical Infrastructure grant application, an ODYS RECLAIM juvenile court grant application, committee appointments to the Family Services Planning Committee, and recognition resolutions for retiring and scholarship recipients.
All votes recorded in the minutes were aye by Koogler, Mays and Gould. The approved purchases and contracts move forward to procurement or administration for implementation under the terms recorded in the minutes.
