Council President Kyle Phillips opened the item and the council moved to suspend the statutory rule requiring three separate readings (motion by Council Member Tyler Vacha, seconded by Matthew Carr). Carr then moved for passage of the ordinance; Brantley Vavra seconded and the ordinance passed on a roll call vote with Vacha, Vavra and Carr voting aye and no members voting nay.
The ordinance was read by title and officials noted the ordinance will be available in pamphlet form as required. The adoption follows an earlier public hearing that produced no verbal or written comments.
Why it matters: adopting an official zoning map codifies current land-use classifications and provides a single reference for development, permitting and enforcement. The council’s suspension of the three-reading rule shortened the adoption process to a single meeting.
The council took no amendments to the ordinance during the meeting and did not record any public objections. The ordinance will be published and made available in pamphlet form per city practice. The council proceeded to other agenda items after the vote.
