The Village of Loomis Board of Trustees met Feb. 10, 2025, at the Loomis Community Building and approved routine business including a list of vendor claims and several administrative motions. Chairman Keith Fagot called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
The board unanimously approved the meeting agenda, the previous month’s minutes and the financial reports. Trustees approved a list of claims presented during the meeting, which included a $50,610.00 payment to EMC Insurance Companies and multiple vendor invoices for utilities, parts and services. The claims motion passed 5-0.
Why it matters: the board’s decisions set the village’s immediate spending and administrative practices. Trustees also voted to change the regular meeting day and to modernize how the village posts official notices.
In a procedural change, the board voted 5-0 to return the regular meeting date to the second Monday of each month, beginning with the schedule going forward. The motion was made by Chairman Keith Fagot and seconded by Trustee Maxine “Max” Berry.
The board also voted unanimously to designate the Loomis Village website as the official electronic depository for legal notices and minutes. The motion to use the website was made by Trustee Ben Collin and seconded by Trustee Melanie Freeman; the vote was recorded as Yes: Don Masten, Ben Collin, Maxine Berry, Melanie Freeman and Keith Fagot.
During the meeting the trustees discussed the possible inclusion of a longevity policy in the Employee Handbook; Chairman Fagot said he will continue to develop the proposal and return it for further discussion at a future meeting. The record shows Chairman Fagot presented a nuisance report and provided a clerk report in the absence of the Village Clerk due to illness; the minutes include an attestation line naming MJ Pristavec as Village Clerk.
The board set its next regular meeting for 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at the Loomis Community Building and then adjourned at 7:33 p.m. The motions noted above were unanimous and are reflected in the minutes.
