Norwich Township tables request to back opposition to Aqua Water rate increase for Timberbrook

Representatives from the Ohio Consumers' Counsel asked Norwich Township's board of trustees on Jan. 6 to join the agency in opposing a proposed Aqua Water rate increase that would affect Timberbrook residents.
Tonja Stewart Shaw and Ohio Consumers' Counsel Director Maureen Willis told the board the OCC is opposing the increase on behalf of affected residents and asked the township to pass a resolution and do public outreach in Timberbrook. Township Administrator Jamie Fisher said that if the board ultimately passes a resolution, she plans to file it with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio's case docket as a permanent record.
Chair Kelli Arthur Hykes said she wanted the draft resolution revised to include language addressing infrastructure improvements by Aqua Water. Hykes moved to table the matter to a future special meeting to allow revisions and additional consideration; the motion passed unanimously.
The board did not take a final vote on the substance of the resolution at the Jan. 6 meeting. No formal response from Aqua Water was recorded in the meeting record.
