Loomis board confirms officers, administers oaths and names village officials for 2025

Following adjournment of its regular meeting on Dec. 9, 2024, the Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Loomis opened a reorganizational meeting. In the absence of the Village Clerk, Chairman Keith Fagot administered the oath of office to re-elected trustees Max (Berry), Melanie (Freeman) and Ben (Collin), who recited and signed the oath.
A motion by Don Masten, seconded by Melanie Freeman, kept the current officers in place for the 2024–2025 calendar year; the motion carried unanimously (5-0). The minutes list the officers as Keith Fagot, Chairman, and Don Masten, Vice Chair.
Chairman Fagot presented several appointments for the 2025 calendar year: the Board of Health will be constituted by the Village Board with Max Berry serving as Health Inspector; Village Attorney will be Taylor L'Heureux of DeWald, Deaver, L'Heureux; Emergency Management Director will be Justin Norris (Phelps County Emergency Manager); Village Engineer and Street Superintendent will be Chris Miller of Miller and Associates (licenses noted in minutes); Village Clerk/Treasurer and Utilities Superintendent positions are held by MJ Pristavec; the Holdrege Daily Citizen was named the official newspaper for legal publications; and Dana F. Cole & Company was named auditor and budget construction advisor. The minutes record these appointments as announced by the chairman.
The board discussed a lease renewal for the Village Farm property and instructed Chairman Fagot to negotiate and finalize the lease; no lease terms or vote were recorded. The board also discussed developing an incentive plan for village employees; the minutes record the discussion but no funding decisions or formal motions were documented.
The board set its next meeting for Monday, Jan. 13, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. (moved from the regular Tuesday date). The reorganizational meeting concluded and the board adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
