Loomis Village Board approves claims, certification resolution and driveway permit; schedules budget and tax hearings

The Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Loomis met Aug. 13, 2024, at the Loomis Community Building and approved routine business and several actions affecting village operations.
Chairman Keith Fagot and trustees Don Masten, Melanie Freeman, Maxine Berry and Ben Collin voted to approve the meeting agenda and prior meeting minutes. The board approved the financial reports as presented and voted to pay a list of claims that included routine vendors and payroll items such as Petty Cash $300.00, America Fence of Kearney $5,470.00, Schaben Sanitation, Inc. $3,701.25 and wages $6,036.01. Those claims were approved 5-0.
The board unanimously adopted Resolution 0824-1, described in the minutes as a municipal certification of program compliance with the Nebraska Department of Public Roads Classifications and Standards 2024. The resolution was moved by Trustee Ben Collin and seconded by Chairman Keith Fagot and passed 5-0.
A building permit requested by Matt Klein to grind the curb and enlarge his driveway entrance was approved by the board on a 5-0 vote after Trustee Ben Collin moved and Trustee Melanie Freeman seconded the motion.
The board also approved all liquor license renewals for the Village of Loomis; that motion passed 4-1, with Trustee Don Masten recorded as the sole dissenting vote. The minutes record no further explanation for the dissent.
Trustees discussed the village budget and noted several costly projects that may affect budget planning. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for Sept. 10, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Loomis Community Building and set a budget hearing for 7:05 PM, a tax request hearing for 7:10 PM and a land purchase hearing for 7:15 PM.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous motion to adjourn; Chairman Keith Fagot adjourned the meeting at 7:43 PM.
