Denton trustees approve sewer-lining contract, renew two liquor licenses and waive ordinance readings

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees met Aug. 5, 2024, at the Denton Community Center and approved a string of routine and infrastructure items, including a $17,250 sewer-lining contract and renewals of two Class C liquor licenses.
Trustee John Juricek moved to adopt Resolution 24-8-1 (Municipal Annual Certification); Trustee Amanda Fangmeier seconded and the motion carried. Juricek also moved to introduce Ordinance 24-8-1 (NE Basic Code) and hold the first reading; Trustee Doug Rosekrans seconded. The board considered and then approved a motion by Fangmeier, seconded by Rosekrans, to waive the state statutory three-reading requirement. The ordinance introduction and waiver passed by unanimous vote.
The trustees opened and closed a public hearing on automatic renewals of Class C liquor licenses and then approved renewals for the Denton Daily Double and the Denton American Legion on a motion by Rosekrans and seconded by Juricek; the approvals were unanimous.
On infrastructure, Trustee Juricek moved and Trustee Fangmeier seconded approval of Johnson Service Company’s bid to install a 6-inch CIPP sewer liner for $17,250.00; the motion carried. The board also approved Claims List A for $65,596.12, Claims List B for $4,412.34, and June payroll totaling $9,865.05 on a motion by Juricek and seconded by Fangmeier.
The board noted that Trustee Joe Hobelman stated the Open Meeting Laws are posted in the meeting room. The meeting was declared adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
