Fremont County sets speed limits on Bee and Clothesline roads and renews BLM gravel permits

Transportation staff presented speed‑limit declarations and permit renewals at the June 9 meeting. Under state statute, counties may set speed limits on unpaved roads; the Board approved a 30 MPH speed declaration for Bee Road and a 55 MPH paved/35 MPH unpaved declaration for Clothesline Road. Both motions carried unanimously.
The Board also approved renewals of Bureau of Land Management mineral material free‑use permits for the Claytor Pit and the Jeffrey City Pit and approved a right‑of‑way bore permit for Dubois Telephone Exchange, LLC on Horse Creek Road. Approach access applications from Tara Whaley (8 Mile Rd.), Richard & Dorothe Nobles (Lost Butte Dr.) and William & Sarah Dike (Tween Ln.) were also approved unanimously.
Commissioners and staff said a speed study had been completed for both declarations despite state law allowing certain speed settings without a study; the minutes record that engineering staff from DOWL aided the presentation.
