Fremont County approves pay adjustments, 1% health insurance increase and several appointments

The Board accepted SOC (salary/compensation) adjustments for the Sheriff’s Office, approved a $5,210 annual SOC adjustment for a Treatment Court therapist and SOC adjustments of $4,871.50 and $4,703 for two Juvenile Probation positions. All SOC adjustments were adopted by unanimous motions.
Treasurer Jim Anderson presented proposed health insurance rates for the coming fiscal year; the board approved a 1% increase to both the employer and employee portions of health insurance after staff explained the health plan remained in good financial shape. Clerk Julie Freese discussed rising retirement contribution costs and options to increase employee take‑home pay without formal salary raises.
The Board also rehired a part‑time Fair custodian at $18.00 per hour (interim fair director Laura Harrington appeared via Zoom) and completed several board appointments and reappointments, including reappointments to the Recreation and Planning Commissions and an appointment to the Museum Board. These personnel and appointment motions carried unanimously.
County officials said the adjustments are intended to address recruitment and retention pressures and to align pay for specific roles; the minutes record amounts approved and the motions but contain limited narrative on long‑term salary strategy.
