Denton trustees approve equipment purchases, sprinkler repairs, claims and payroll

The Village of Denton Board of Trustees met Sept. 10, 2024, at the Denton Community Center and approved multiple operational purchases and payments during a meeting that began at 6:34 p.m. and adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
Trustees approved a $5,275.78 bid from ARB for traffic-control signs, barricades and supplies after Trustee John Juricek moved the measure and Trustee Trent Whealty seconded; the motion carried. The board also approved a $750 contract with Lincoln Underground Sprinkler to move and repair sprinklers, a motion moved by Trustee Doug Rosekrans and seconded by Trustee Trent Whealty, which carried.
For grounds maintenance, the board approved the purchase of a Lazer Z X-Series 72-inch mower from Crete Ace Hardware for $15,599.00. Trustee Amanda Fangmeier moved the purchase and Trustee Doug Rosekrans seconded; the vote carried.
On finance matters, Trustee John Juricek moved and Trustee Amanda Fangmeier seconded approval of Claims List A for $4,543.63, Claims List B for $13,092.90 and August payroll of $8,461.42; the motion carried. The treasurer reported fund balances including General $101,109.67 and noted Keno proceeds for July 24 listing a village share of $19,029.93.
The board reviewed a facilities-security bid from Mattice Lock that would add a smart lock to the concession-room door and replace other locks; trustees reached consensus to seek an additional bid before taking action. Maintenance staff Blackledge requested authorization to apply for a 2025 security grant to purchase a GPS locator unit; the request was recorded for consideration.
Trustees appointed Joe Hobelman and Doug Rosekrans to conduct employee evaluations, tentatively scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16, starting at 2 p.m. The meeting record was certified by Clerk-Treasurer Charlotte Te Brink.
The board’s actions were routine operational and procurement decisions that the minutes record as carried; the minutes do not include roll-call tallies.
