Mendota council prioritizes animal control facility, community center and infrastructure in funding memo response

City Manager Cristian Gonzalez summarized the memorandum and listed priority requests discussed by the council: an Animal Control holding facility, upgrades to the Community Center, park improvements, incentive programs to encourage property maintenance, additional funding for the Mendota Police Department, sidewalk maintenance, water infrastructure improvements (including the Westside Water Tank and Booster Pump Project) and Pool Park rehabilitation. Mayor Victor Martinez moved to direct staff to prioritize those requests; the motion was approved by council consensus.
Council voiced support for pursuing external funding and advocacy to advance the outlined projects. The motion included no dollar amounts for specific projects beyond the consent calendar warrant total; staff will return with prioritization details and next steps.
