Council authorizes waiver to delay foreclosure on one 2023 tax lien

At the Dec. 3 meeting the Presque Isle City Council authorized the city treasurer to waive foreclosure on certain 2023 municipal tax liens if payment is received before the foreclosure deadline on Dec. 5, 2025.
City staff told the council that of the properties listed for potential foreclosure, one had been paid off and one remaining property—37 Reach Road—was on a payment agreement in which the owner pays $150 per month and was fulfilling that agreement. "He pays $150 a month. Just needs some more time," a staff member said when describing the case. The council moved to authorize the waiver for the properties listed in the meeting attachment, contingent on payment before the specified deadline, and the motion passed on a voice vote.
Staff also noted the broader foreclosure process: the city will proceed with foreclosure on additional properties if payment is not received by the stated deadline. The authorization allows the treasurer to delay foreclosure for listed properties in cases where payment arrangements are in place and payments are being made.
