Council schedules budget workshop after finance director outlines 2026 draft

Laura said staff were "actively working through internal transition plans related to staffing to ensure continuity and stability across all departments," and that the city had accepted a vendor (Greenworks) recommendation for upcoming IT upgrades. She told the council the draft budget reflects ongoing adjustments to revenues and potential cost increases, including a possible 9% rise in Vant rates and an increase in some contracted service fees. "Right now we're sitting at about 470,000 instead of the 496," Laura said when describing the current numbers under review.
Council members asked clarifying questions and the manager confirmed additional changes would be introduced at the scheduled workshop. The council did not adopt a final budget at this meeting; staff will bring revised figures to the workshop and seek further direction at subsequent meetings.
