Woolwich committee rejects supplemental engineer fee and tables $723,519 lighting change order for Locke Avenue Park

During discussion on Resolution R-2026-63, Committeeman Frederick said the $38,330 supplemental fee still seemed high for the work and said he would assist the township administrator in retrieving prior engineering documentation. The roll call on R-2026-63 recorded Frederick and Committeewoman Minhas voting No and Committeewoman Williams and Mayor Matthias voting Yes; the resolution failed.
The committee then discussed R-2026-63A, a proposed Change Order No. 2 to Wyndham Construction for additional field lighting in an amount not to exceed $723,519.82. Committeeman Frederick raised concerns about the lighting specifications and said he had used artificial intelligence to research lighting standards for Little League fields. Mayor Matthias responded that Little League tournament play requires different, more stringent lighting standards than recreational play and that the contract specifications were designed for recreational lighting.
Frederick moved to table R-2026-63A and Committeewoman Minhas seconded; the motion to table carried unanimously. The resolution is scheduled to return to a future meeting for further review.
No final change order was approved on Feb. 2; committee members asked for additional documentation and clarification on lighting standards and costs before taking further action.
