Roger Campbell presented a proposal for Crawford to apply to host the Traveling Vietnam Wall in 2025 and outlined estimated attendance and fundraising needs.
Campbell told the council that the national program selects roughly 30 communities from about 500 applicants and that, if Crawford were chosen, the town could expect an estimated 3,500 to 4,500 visitors. He said a minimum of $12,000 in fundraising would be needed, with a suggested additional $5,000 to cover water, snacks and volunteer needs. The presenters noted the city would be notified of selection in late October or early November.
The council did not take action to commit funding or set aside city resources at the meeting. The item remained informational; if Crawford is selected the council would likely need to consider budgeting, logistics and support roles at a future meeting.
