Chief Richard Ellwanger and Captain Paul Ritzenthaler brought multiple requests before the board: purchases included self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) bottles, replacement hoses for the Hurst rescue tool, and a new Hurst-type rescue tool (the “Hurst Tool”) after a department demonstration. Trustees approved the purchases and directed the department to proceed as funds allowed. The board also approved sending firefighters to hazardous‑materials technician training and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) classes; seminar costs and physicals were discussed and authorized where recorded.
The board accepted new volunteers who had completed basic firefighting training and who were scheduled for further instruction through the year. Capt. Ritzenthaler presented school‑program materials and requested funds for next year’s fire‑prevention education; trustees voted to continue funding the program. Other equipment approvals during the year included air‑bag mat jacks, vehicle identification markings and repairs to squad vehicles.
Trustees framed the actions as investments in safety and readiness. Votes on the purchases and personnel steps were recorded in the minutes and funding was confirmed as available within line items or through the capital budget.
