Webster D. Junk was elected chairman of the Norwich Township Board of Trustees at the Jan. 1 organizational meeting, trustees said. The motion to elect Junk passed unanimously after a nomination by Mr. Rice and a second by Mr. Workman. Mr. Workman was appointed vice chairman.
The board approved continuing trustee salaries on a monthly basis and adopted a temporary appropriations resolution as presented by the clerk. Trustees voted to authorize payment of any increases in insurance costs for the coming year. The board also approved a $250 payment to the clerk for preparing cemetery deeds for 1997.
The outcome leaves the board positioned to begin the year’s routine business and direct staff on early-year tasks, including forwarding the appropriations resolution as required to the Franklin County Auditor. The trustees scheduled the next regular meeting for Jan. 6.
