Waterloo trustees approve routine finances, permits and resolutions; clerk reports trail update and insurer dividend

The Village of Waterloo Board of Trustees met on April 13, 2026 and approved routine minutes, financial reports and a slate of resolutions and permits.
Trustees voted to approve the March 9, 2026 regular meeting minutes and the March Treasurer's Report. The board approved payment of accounts payable totaling $147,489.64 and payroll totaling $80,117.13; the minutes list vendor payments including Electric Pump ($31,069.50), JEO engineering fees ($24,620), PeopleService contracted maintenance ($14,177) and multiple other municipal vendors.
Resolutions 04-13-26-01 and 04-13-26-02 to acquire a library copier from Eakes through a lease program were introduced and approved by unanimous roll call. Resolution 04.13-26-03 to purchase meeting-room tables was also approved. The board placed a Holiday Lights proposal on file.
The board approved Resolution 04-13-26-04 to close W Maple Road from North Front Street to 252nd Street daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. from April 15 through June 13, 2026. Resolution 04-13-26-05 approved a Special Designated Liquor License for Dog House Saloon for June 13, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.
A resolution to employ Candi Rotert as an on-call employee (Resolution 04-13-26-06) was introduced but tabled until a special meeting. The board approved a fireworks stand permit for Ka-Boomer at 2523 River Road Drive; the roll call showed YES votes from Rotert, Sass and Ewing, with Chair Harlow recorded as abstaining.
Clerk Melissa Smith updated the board that the Blondo Street trail project is progressing and noted receipt of the Nebraska Humane Society's 2025 Annual Report and an insurance dividend payment of $15,464.40 from EMC. Chair Harlow and Vice-Chair Rotert said they met with JEO regarding the wastewater treatment facility and ongoing development and are awaiting more detailed engineering numbers.
The meeting adjourned at 7:56 p.m.; the next regular meeting is set for May 11, 2026 at 7:00 p.m.
