Robbins swears in Frank Sanders as police lieutenant; six recruits introduced

The Village of Robbins on Feb. 28 approved the swearing in of Frank Sanders as lieutenant of police. The motion, moved by Trustee Gregory N. Jackson and seconded by Trustee Ernest Maxey Jr., passed with Trustees Dyson, Maxey, Jackson and Collier voting yes and Trustee Tiffany S. Robinson voting no; Trustee George Brewton was absent.
Trustee Tiffany S. Robinson reported that eight new recruits have graduated, bringing the department to a total of 46 officers. Six recruits introduced themselves to the audience by name: Ozzie Carmona, Donovan Starks, Patrick Sweeten, William Reno, Diane Prince and Anthony Hernandez. Robinson also said the village is still accepting applications for the fire department and encouraged interested individuals to pick up applications at village hall.
Robinson noted operational changes underway in communications: a switch from CalComm is nearly complete, an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) has been approved, and AT&T will need to switch lines as part of the transition.
The swearing-in and recruitment updates were part of routine public-safety business during the meeting.
