Waterloo trustees delay final acceptance and $20,651 final payment for street project

The Village of Waterloo Board of Trustees on May 11 tabled formal acceptance of the Street Improvement Project and withheld a final payment of $20,651.09 to contractor Omni until the board is satisfied the work is corrected.

Trustee David Rochford moved to table the Certificate of Substantial Completion for Omni; the motion was seconded and carried with Trustees Travis Harlow (Chairperson), Bill Rotert (Vice-Chairperson) and Rochford voting yes. The board separately voted to table Omni’s Final Pay Application for $20,651.09 until the project work is corrected to the trustees’ satisfaction.

Board members did not record additional specifics about the deficiencies in the minutes; the clerk also presented a notice from JEO that a portion of the project warranty period is approaching. Because the warranty notice and the board’s concerns overlap, trustees scheduled additional review before releasing final payment.
