Region 20 auditor flags $2.9M deficit; EMS committee weighing staffing models

Bongiorno also noted a $6 million Other Post-Employment Benefit liability tied to early retirements with full health insurance coverage.
On emergency medical services, Interlocal EMS Committee member Dan Morosani reported that representatives from Litchfield Volunteer Ambulance and Bantam Fire Company will study pricing for three staffing options: maintain an all-volunteer model with supplemental staffing as needed; develop a proactively staffed plan with a full profit-and-loss analysis; or transition to two fully staffed 24-hour ambulances. Morosani said consolidation of volunteer scheduling is expected and that LVA has shifted toward paid staffing for daytime hours in recent years.
