Robbins authorizes Harvest Festival and Trunk-or-Treat closures; residents press K-9, permit and fuel-safety questions

The Village of Robbins board on Oct. 11 approved street closures for community events and heard public comments asking for operational clarifications.

Trustees approved a street closure for the Harvest Festival at the Robbins Community Center on Oct. 28–29 and a Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 31. Trustee Tiffany S. Robinson moved to approve the Harvest Festival closure and Trustee Michael Collier Sr. seconded; the board recorded ayes and the motion carried. Trustee Michael Collier Sr. moved to approve the Trunk-or-Treat street closure and Trustee Robinson seconded; motion carried. Event organizer Larry Holmes described the Trunk-or-Treat as the event's fifth year and said it was created to provide a safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating. He asked the council about the K-9 unit and training requirements.

During the public-comment portion, Pamela Davis asked whether vendors at the proposed open-air market would receive permits and vendor receipts and whether the Village had fuel-safety precautions for the proposed on-site diesel tank discussed elsewhere on the agenda. Ms. Westbrook complimented the mayor and board for clearer meeting management. Mayor Darren E.
