"There are 103 households that have a Rockport address... that's 220 people," he said, adding the average household visit yields about 40 pounds of food and that cumulative assistance represented an estimated $123,000 in household savings over the year.
Alan described programs ranging from a home-delivery service for residents with mobility or transportation barriers to weekend food distributions for students through school-based programs. He said the organization serves households in an "ALICE" economic category (asset‑limited, income‑constrained, employed) and emphasized AIO’s role as a first contact for many residents seeking short-term help.
Following the presentation the board moved to adopt a proclamation thanking AIO and declaring March 14 Rockport Pi Day; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
