The Wahoo Public Schools Board voted to approve PCCO98, a construction change order to address the mechanical yard screen, with a not‑to‑exceed cost of $48,330 to be funded from construction contingency.
Brandon explained the screen as originally designed did not meet the district’s transparency and aesthetic goals; staff proposed either removing the existing material and installing a new product or installing the new product on the inside of the existing structure. “I want them gone. I just want it done,” Brandon said when describing the goal to remove the eyesore and improve the site.
The motion to approve PCCO98 passed with board members recording affirmative votes during the meeting.
Separately, the board considered a proposed renovation to the first‑floor main hallway (Terrazzo) in the new addition. Staff reported MCL offered $55,000 toward the work; the full project cost was stated as $113,655 with the district’s share estimated at $58,655 after MCL’s contribution. Board members pressed for formal bids, procurement clarity, and confirmation that MCL would still contribute $55,000 if the district sought its own contractor. The hallway flooring item was tabled pending those clarifications and formal bid documentation.
Next steps: staff will verify bidding requirements, confirm MCL’s contribution, and return the hallway flooring item with firm bids and procurement options.
