Brandon, who led the policy review, summarized notable changes: advertising requirements (policy 2008) now require quarterly newspaper notices with flexibility to post agendas on the website; procurement threshold figures in the 3000 series were adjusted; communicable‑disease definitions (policy 348) were updated to align with public-health guidance; and a new ACH/origination policy (3061) establishes controls for direct deposit and electronic payments.
On labor relations, staff explained a state change affecting bargaining‑agent communications: any communications or direct access provided to one bargaining agent must be made available equally to any other qualifying collective‑bargaining group.
A new staff use‑of‑AI policy (4065) was recommended. Brandon said the district and policy committee reviewed model language and proposed removing student information from any staff AI usage. "Let's just remove student information from the equation," Brandon said during the presentation. Staff also recommended aligning the student AI policy (6038) with the staff policy so that both address permitted uses and data protections consistently.
Other changes discussed included attendance/withdrawal clarifications, part‑time enrollment and extracurricular classifications, and updates to communication timelines for student-discipline actions. Staff said they will present a clean packet for a July vote and align the handbooks to implement these policies.
