Board approvals: early graduations, playground fencing and overlay, two‑year Newman baseball co‑op; lawn care RFP to be reissued

The Wahoo Public Schools board approved several action items during the meeting:

• Early graduations: The board approved early graduation applications for seniors Axel Eckley and Noah Rogers. Brandon said both students have postgraduation plans (diesel mechanics and electrician apprenticeship) and the board voted to approve the applications.

• Playground fencing and asphalt: The board approved two separate contracts to address safety and surface concerns at the elementary playground. Trustees approved a fencing contract with SW Fence to satisfy Rule 11 compliance and to keep students from running off playground areas; they also approved a separate contract with Man Asphalt to mill and overlay the west playground at a total price of $38,239.

• Bishop Newman cooperative baseball agreement: The board approved a two‑year cooperative agreement with Bishop Newman for spring baseball seasons on a 50/50 basis after discussion about financial splits, scheduling and input into program operations. An amendment to change the split was proposed but not seconded.

• Lawn care contract: Staff reported the current lawn service contract with Ed Lawn Service is ending its second year; trustees directed staff to refresh and reissue the prior RFP so the district can solicit competitive proposals for the 2026 growing season.
