At the July 9 Crawford City Council meeting, Park Board Chairman Scott DeBock reported on the board's recent meeting, highlighting concerns that only a single flooring bid was received for an unspecified park project and that the board discussed hiring Buffy Hourt-Allred to perform research and grant writing related to the municipal pool.
DeBock also said the board reviewed approaches to ensure campers using the park are paying their fees and reviewed job offers and compensation for lifeguards; he said it remains the lifeguards' decision whether to accept offered jobs. The council later approved reimbursement for lifeguard training and certification, but when the grant-writing proposal for Buffy Hourt-Allred was brought to the council the meeting record shows no action was taken on that hire.
The park board's concerns about a single bid raise questions for next procurement steps, and the hiring proposal will require a future council action if the board wishes to secure grant-writing services for pool improvements.
