Crawford council approves July 27 street closure, sewer cleaning contract and pursuit of liens

The Crawford City Council on June 25 approved a set of operational actions, including a temporary street closure for a community event, a contract for sewer cleaning not to exceed $10,000, and authorization to pursue liens and litigation for unpaid utility accounts.
The council voted 4–0 to close Second Street between Main and Elm from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on July 27 for a "jam session" with enclosed beer sales; barriers are to be removed the next morning. April Grant moved to approve the closure and Shane Norman seconded; the motion carried with Grant, Norman, Robert Tovmassian and Christopher Dean recorded as voting aye.
Council also approved engaging WFI to perform sewer cleaning with a not-to-exceed budget of $10,000. Robert Tovmassian moved the contract authorization; Christopher Dean seconded and the motion passed with the council recording unanimous ayes.
On collections, Christopher Dean moved to direct City staff and the city attorney to pursue liens and litigation as needed to recover unpaid utility accounts. The motion, seconded by Robert Tovmassian, passed by recorded ayes. The minutes record that Jody Bass will work with Attorney Adam Edmund on recovery efforts.
The council approved returning listed security deposits, granted multiple building permits (applicants recorded in the minutes), and voted to approve bills, requisition orders and transfers. The minutes include an itemized payroll and claims list totaling $81,668.84.
The meeting included an executive session called by Mayor Tom Phillips; the council entered executive session at 6:35 p.m. and reconvened at 7:28 p.m. The public meeting adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
