Council on Aging reports assistant director search, facility upgrades and grant support

The Middleton Council on Aging received administrative updates April 29 about staffing, facility improvements and recent fundraising support.
Town Administrator Justin Sultzbach, Director Aniela Anderson and Vice Chair Dr. Joan Shea-Desmond reported they have interviewed four candidates via Zoom for the assistant director position and plan in-person callbacks; the search is ongoing.
Assistant Town Manager Jackie Bresnahan, Chair Margaret Alfonso and Dr. Shea-Desmond said the front lobby will receive new upholstered chairs in addition to existing benches. Program staff will add the COA Board Meeting sign-in to the facility computer system to improve check-in. The Friends group reported securing an "Institution for Savings" grant providing $500 per quarter annually to support COA activities.
Staff also noted a newsletter distribution glitch affecting some members, which Olivia Scouten said will be corrected. The next COA meeting is scheduled for May 27, 2026.
