Southwest Public Schools sets meal prices, activity pass fees and substitute pay for 2024–25

At a July 15, 2024 meeting in Bartley, the Southwest Public Schools Board of Education approved student meal prices, activity pass fees and substitute teacher pay for the 2024–25 school year.
On a motion moved by Jennifer McConville and seconded by Brooke Brooks, the board adopted revised Board Policy 5045 Student Fees and set the following meal and beverage prices: Pre‑kindergarten through Grade 5 lunch $3.10; Grades 6 through 12 lunch $3.60; breakfast $2.15 for Pre‑K through Grade 12; adult lunch $4.25; and milk $0.35 per carton. The minutes record the vote as unanimous among members present.
The board also approved activity pass pricing for the 2024–25 school year — student passes $25, adult passes $50 and family passes $100 — on a motion moved by McConville and seconded by Jason Kloepping. Separately, the board affirmed current substitute teacher pay at $150.00 per day for 2024–25 on a motion moved by McConville and seconded by Brooks; both motions carried.
Why it matters: the prices and fees will directly affect families who purchase meals or passes and determine payroll costs for substitutes. The district directed its Food Service and Activities staff to publish the prices and update systems before the school year begins.
