Staff opened a discussion of the community survey used to inform the comprehensive plan, saying “part of the comprehensive plan process is a survey of the town” that will use a standard template and be hosted online for several months, after which the results will inform plan chapters. The staff member said the draft will be circulated to members as a PDF or editable document for feedback before posting.
The request to review the survey offline reflected members’ concerns about meeting efficiency. One member suggested, and the group agreed, that staff convert the questions to Word or PDF and distribute a link so participants could provide detailed comments at their convenience. The staff member referenced SurveyMonkey and a local server option for hosting and said final edits would be incorporated after member review.
Beyond the survey, staff introduced the vision-statement task and outlined options for drafting it: staff can draft a version for member sign-off, two members can collaborate on a draft, or the group can compile short priority bullets and have staff produce a concise statement. Participants preferred a short, three-sentence visual statement accompanied by three to five prioritized bullets.
Staff said they will collect members’ bullet points, compile them, and circulate a draft vision statement ahead of the next meeting. The group also agreed staff will send the survey draft and the next chapter materials on a schedule so members can review and comment in advance.
The committee recorded a procedural motion earlier in the meeting to accept the Feb. 11, 2026 minutes; the motion was seconded and the chair called for the vote, after which the minutes were accepted without further recorded discussion.
Looking ahead, staff set deadlines for returning edits and vision-statement ideas and said the compiled drafts will be distributed two weeks before the next review meeting.
