Everett School Committee approves 2026–27 meeting calendar, one‑year food service extension and $3.25M payroll

The Everett School Committee on June 15 voted unanimously to adopt the 2026–27 meeting calendar with one change: the Committee will eliminate the second regularly scheduled meetings in February and April because those dates usually fall during school vacation periods. Chairperson Hurley said the change preserves the ability to call special meetings if business arises.
"So, it would be the second meeting in February and the second meeting in April… it would fall off cycle," Hurley said when explaining the proposal. After discussion about scheduling and the budget calendar the Committee approved the change by roll call, 8–0.
The Committee also approved a routine contract action: Superintendent Hart requested authority to exercise the first of two one‑year extensions with Whitsons Culinary Group for school food service, with no change to contract terms. The Committee approved the extension by roll call, 8–0. Committee members noted that a prior vendor comparison had been conducted.
Superintendent Hart also requested permission to dispose of 46 out‑of‑date career and technical education textbooks; that request was approved by unanimous voice vote.
In finance business, the Committee moved, by roll call, to submit and pay bills and payroll dated June 15, 2026 in the amount of $3,251,260.50; all members voted "Yes" and the motions passed 8–0.
All roll calls and voice votes recorded at the meeting were unanimous or by consensus; no contested roll call votes were recorded.
