Board approves two option enrollments while members raise special-education capacity concerns

"I have two one-on-one students because of their needs, so like if a parent is gone that day and Laura would have to cover that, nobody's servicing her kids and that's breaking Rule 51," the principal said, describing an operational constraint that affects classroom coverage.
Board members discussed options for managing future enrollments, including program-level or grade-level caps and crafting a resolution that specifies allowable limits. The board was advised that if the district denies an option-enrollment request it must send a letter explaining the district's reasoning; trustees were urged to consult KSB for legal guidance and to return with recommended language for any resolution or caps.
