The Ward City Council authorized an energy savings performance contract with Integrity Energy Partners LLC on March 17, approving a plan to replace HVAC equipment and interior lighting in city facilities.
A presenter at the meeting said the project secured more than $400,000 in grant funding, and described the city’s net contributions as roughly $34,000 on one part of the project and about $24,000 on another. He told councilors the lighting work could begin quickly (materials are largely available), and that HVAC equipment had lead times of about 10–12 weeks; overall, he estimated work would be complete before the end of the summer if labor and scheduling align.
Council members asked about timeline and controls. The presenter said the thermostats will be the EcoB brand and noted that a small group of authorized users will have remote access to adjust schedules; council members indicated they would not have direct thermostat control. The presenter described the procurement as following prior project bidding work and said the low bidder for portions of the work met project specifications.
Council approved the resolution after the presentation and a brief question-and-answer period. Councilors and staff will coordinate installation scheduling to minimize disruption in occupied spaces and will return updates to the council as work proceeds.
