Ward council approves planning items, reappointment and routine resolutions

At its Dec. 16 meeting the Ward City Council approved a package of routine planning and administrative items, including final and preliminary plats, a planning commission reappointment and several resolutions.

Planning Commission Chair Miss Aaron (who announced she will not seek reappointment) presented the commission's actions. Council approved the Copper Moon Estates Phase 3 final plat and granted a variance related to an elongated cul-de-sac; the council also accepted the preliminary plat for the Moon Road subdivision, which will convert a cul-de-sac to a throughway. Council noted the developer agreed to modify the layout to address right-of-way concerns and that some remaining development phases were being discontinued with tapping fees refunded.

Council also approved Resolution 202556 to reappoint Harry Butch Price to the Ward Planning Commission for a five-year term through 2030, and approved Resolution 202557 to dispose of an obsolete police vehicle judged not worth salvaging. The council authorized staff to renew certificates of deposit under Resolution 2025-55, noting the renewal date and that rates would be known after the holidays.

Why it matters: The plat approvals advance residential development and clarify right-of-way plans; the planning commission reappointment fills a seat through 2030 and city housekeeping items address city finances and fleet management.

What happens next: Staff will process the recorded plats and reappointment paperwork and continue follow-up with developers on discontinued phases and refunds.
