Planning and Zoning staff report higher UDC revenue, new aerial photos and inspection activity
Summary
During the Oct. 2 meeting, staff reported UDC revenue exceeded budgeted expectations in September, the Land Information Department received new aerial photos, the Zoning Technician completed 23 septic inspections and approved 12 sanitary permits, and Emrick Campground is issuing numerous deck and shed permits.
Several department leaders updated the Marquette County Planning and Zoning Committee on operations and workload during its Oct. 2 meeting.
Register of Deeds Nicole Ziebell said the committee preferred the revised report format and asked staff to continue sending a spreadsheet with the accounts report monthly. Land Information Director Megan Stalker reported new aerial photos are available for internal use and said the department has resumed projects that had been delayed.
Planning & Zoning Administrator Jean Potter said year-to-date revenue for UDC and Sanitary services is over 100% of the budget; UDC revenue rose about 10% and totaled more than $1,200 in September. Potter noted a difficulty collecting TRH room tax from AirBnB for 2025 and said Attorney Sean Griffen would assist in addressing collection. Potter also said the department expects to begin using a vehicle from the sheriff's office and add the Traverse to the county fleet program by the end of October.
Zoning Technician Zach Hughes reported 23 septic inspections and three zoning on-site inspections in September, approval of 12 sanitary permits, attendance at soils test training, and that Emrick Campground has about 317 more campground sites receiving deck and shed permits.
Committee members reviewed department vouchers with no comments.
