Board reviews priority policy changes, adopts LCAPs and approves legal and personnel contracts

Kelly Wagner presented a first reading of priority board policy revisions intended to update board policy for compliance with current law; staff said priority policies will be reviewed over the summer with additional readings before a planned vote in April 2027.
Trustees adopted the district's 2026–27 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), the third year of the three‑year plan outlining goals, metrics, actions and expenditures. The board also adopted the charter school's 2026–27 LCAP and confirmed charter budget tables were complete for June.
The board approved a second reading and adoption of BP 3400 (management of district assets), aligning the district's capitalization threshold with the federal Office of Management and Budget change from $5,000 to $10,000.
On personnel and legal services, trustees approved two‑year contracts (July 1, 2026–June 30, 2028) for assistant superintendent positions and the chief business officer and approved an agreement for general legal counsel with the firm Lozano Smith after an RFQ and vetting process.
Board members asked follow‑up questions and thanked staff for the extensive work on LCAPs and the budget. Staff confirmed required postings and next steps for policy review.
The board approved the items by motion and voice vote; roll calls were used for some fiscal resolutions.
