Giles County commission confirms notaries, judicial commissioners and extends Mediacom franchise

The Giles County Legislative Body approved several administrative items at its July 29 session, including elections and contract renewals.
On a motion by Shelly Goolsby, seconded by Terry Jones, the commission elected new and re‑elected Notaries Public at Large for Giles County. The roll call vote recorded one abstention (Caleb Savage) and one absence (Judy Pruett); the motion was declared carried.
The commission approved Judge Chip Richardson’s appointments of Marvin David Boyd, Josie Brown and Robert London to serve as Judicial Commissioners for one‑year terms ending July 31, 2026 on a motion by Tracy Wilburn, seconded by Evan Baddour. The roll call vote was recorded as unanimous among members present.
County Executive Graham Stowe summarized two contracts and agreements the commission approved: a franchise agreement with Mediacom Southeast LLC extending to June 29, 2040 that allows Mediacom to continue cable installs and repairs on county rights of way (no county financial commitment; Mediacom serves 1,288 locations in Ardmore and Elkton), and a CDW Amplified Google Workspace for Education contract covering 7/24/25–7/23/26. Commissioners combined and approved the contracts by voice and roll call.
The commission also combined five reports (Giles County Health Department quarterly report; Giles County Public Library fourth quarter 2024–25; Giles County Sheriff Department annual report; Trustee investments July 1, 2025; Trustee 2023–2024 Tax Aggregate Report) and approved them by roll call.
These routine confirmations and approvals were recorded by roll call and were declared carried by the County Executive.
