The Village of Loomis Board of Trustees handled several administrative and finance items at its Oct. 8 regular meeting.
Public-comment policy: The trustees adopted a public-speaking procedure that requires speakers to announce their name, limits each speaker to three minutes and limits the overall public-comment session to 15 minutes. The motion to adopt the policy was made by Ben Collin and seconded by Chairman Keith Fagot; the motion passed 5–0.
Claims and payments: The board approved the monthly claims list, which included vendor payments and payroll. Notable line items in the claims list included a $108,426.29 invoice to VanKirk Construction Inc., $17,972.00 to Dewald, Deaver, L’Heureux, $3,272.10 to Schaben Sanitation, Inc., and total wages of $7,025.80. The motion to approve claims passed unanimously (5–0).
Building permits: The board approved a permit for property owner Rhonda Wahls to place a storage building on her rental property. The motion to approve Wahls’ permit was made by Melanie Freeman and seconded by Maxine Berry; the board voted 4–1 (Don Masten opposed). A separate building-permit application from guest Chuck Ledbetter was introduced but tabled until the Nov. 12 meeting pending review of lot size, lot boundaries and zoning regulations.
Personnel: Trustees voted unanimously to adopt the salary schedules for all employees for the 2024–2025 fiscal year (motion by Don Masten, second by Ben Collin).
Other business: The board reviewed the hail adjuster’s report for village-owned buildings and agreed to accept the report and instruct the company to begin repairs pending additional information from the adjuster. The one- and six-year road plan was reviewed and a hearing on that plan was scheduled for the November meeting. Clerk MJ Pristavec delivered a clerk’s report and the board set its next meeting for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
