During the Nov. 12 regular meeting, Loomis trustees discussed the village’s utility payment process and the funding of bonded indebtedness. Board members noted that all bonded indebtedness is paid from the water fund rather than through a tax request and that water rates have not been raised in 13 years.
The board agreed that the only utility payments accepted at the First State Bank of Loomis will be automatic payments; all other payments must be placed in the drop box at the Village Office. The board instructed staff to prepare a revised ordinance to reflect that change; the revision will be considered and (per the minutes) adopted at the December 2024 meeting.
On the subject of rates, the board did not vote to increase water rates at this meeting. Trustees stated the question of raising rates will be discussed at the Dec. 2024 meeting, allowing time for staff to present options and budget impacts. No specific rate proposals or effective dates were offered in the minutes.
