The Village of Loomis Board of Trustees discussed how the village pays bonded indebtedness from its water fund and agreed to consider changing water rates at the board’s Nov. 12 meeting.
The board noted that water rates have not been raised in 13 years and that all bonded indebtedness is currently paid from the water fund rather than through a tax request. Board members agreed to review potential rate changes at the November meeting before taking formal action.
The trustees also agreed to change the utility-payment process: the First State Bank of Loomis will accept only automatic payments for utilities going forward, and all other payments must be placed in the drop box at the Village Office. No formal motion to increase rates was made at the Oct. 8 meeting; the rate decision was scheduled for the November meeting.
The discussion did not include specific proposed new rates or a revenue estimate; the board recorded that more analysis and a public hearing will occur in November.
