Denton trustees set annual radium testing, discuss water meter upgrades and street maintenance

Trustees agreed to make radium testing an annual activity after maintenance staff Blackledge reported raw radium test results at the Jan. 6 Board of Trustees meeting.
During the maintenance report Blackledge distributed a spreadsheet of tasks, showed photos of new shop storage racks, and said downtown street lights are operating on a sensor. He reported the lagoon discharge is complete. Staff said water meter software has been installed and that staff member Ross will receive training to install radio-read meters, with replacements beginning on the oldest meters. Trustees discussed revamping the ballfield warning track and reviewed the village's unwritten snow-removal practice of blading streets after three inches of snow; the board noted that adjustments to the snow-removal policy can be made under the direction of the chair until the board votes on a change.
The board also asked Fangmeier to gather more information on the Keep Lincoln and Lancaster County Beautiful litter-control program, which can provide supplies and funding for community cleanup work.
