Attorney Maureen Freeman-Cady recommended limiting the contract term to one year; the board reviewed the proposed amendment before voting to approve it. Trustee Amanda Fangmeier moved to approve the Restated Keno Agreement 2025; the motion was carried.
During the same agenda item trustees considered five local grant applications against a $12,000 budget drawn from Denton Keno community betterment funds. Trustee Trent Whealty moved to award grants; the board initially approved Dollars for Scholars $1,000; DCAC $2,500; Sunnyside Cemetery $5,000; Denton Community Historical Society $3,000; and American Cancer Society $400. After discussion that the American Cancer Society is not a local Denton nonprofit, trustees amended the allocation so Keno community betterment funds were distributed as: Dollars for Scholars $1,500; DCAC $2,500; Sunnyside Cemetery $5,000; Denton Community Historical Society $3,000. The amended motion carried.
The Keno report presented at the meeting showed November 2024 gross proceeds of $628,912.72, with the village share listed as $44,195.14.
