Mayor: MWRD project complete; village to seek new FEMA map, village hall renovation nearing finish

Mayor Darren E. Bryant reported at the Feb. 10 Village of Robbins meeting that the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District project is "100% finished" and that the village must apply for a new FEMA flood map, which he said should be available in 2027 and could provide relief for insured residents by 2028.
"The MWRD project is 100% finished," Mayor Darren E. Bryant said, and he added that the village is pursuing economic incentives through opportunity-zone-style designations and is in discussions with developers and a potential grocery-store proposal.
Village Administrator Korie Dickson told the board the village hall renovation is expected to be completed Friday, according to the project manager, and said she is working on establishing her page on the village website. Dickson also said she met with a South Holland representative about a SoHo zone of 12–16 units and provided a phone number (708-470-9890) and email (kdickson@robbins-il.com) for follow-up.
Trustees and staff discussed water-billing logistics: Mayor Bryant said water bills will be mailed with a credit or zero balance reflected; Trustee Collier said meetings with stakeholders on water policy are forthcoming and asked residents to be patient while crews address water-main breaks. Trustee Kelly said public-safety staff will go door to door to distribute smoke detectors as weather warms, and she requested monthly ambulance data reports; DC Bollinger said Chief Malley will forward the ambulance report prior to meetings.
During public comment Mrs. Murphy asked Trustee Holmes, "can we discuss property maintenance also on the 5th?" The minutes record additional resident questions about the Elevate program, parcel applications and a prior water grant; the minutes do not contain full staff responses to those questions.
What happens next: the village will proceed with FEMA map application steps and staff will publish implementation details and timelines as they become available, per the mayor’s and VA’s reports noted in the minutes.
