"I added effective May 16th, 2026, the highway committee approved a speed limit of 45 mph on all ATV routes using the county highway system. The speed limit will be on a trial basis and evaluated after one year," the staff presenter said while reviewing the ordinance text. The draft also allows a highway commissioner, in consultation with law enforcement and emergency management, to temporarily close or reduce speed on route segments for heavy traffic, weather, construction or other safety reasons.
A motion to approve the ordinance changes and forward the packet to executive finance was moved and seconded; the committee voted to approve the motion. No roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript.
