Library grants, bathroom renovation overages and sewer enzyme trial reported to trustees

At the May 14 meeting Barbee Sweet delivered the library report and maintenance updates. Sweet said TCF and United Way grants funded eight laptops that 1 to 1 Technologies will order and configure, the Summer Reading calendar is set and GoBigGive donations covered a carpet project. Library bathroom repairs were completed and the board approved covering any renovation costs that exceed grant funding.
Trustee Dylan Drummond moved and Trustee Chris Langley seconded that the village pay any costs beyond awarded grant amounts for the bathroom renovation; the motion passed on a 5-0 roll call vote.
In maintenance updates, crews continued pool preparation and are locating a mis-mapped water main at 107 W. Millard St. Village staff discussed testing a Chemsearch-provided enzyme dosing machine to address grease in a lift station; the vendor provided a unit for $200 per month to determine whether it reduces chemical use.
Clerk/Treasurer Kari Podliska said there are no new zoning permits and noted a state statute change related to modular homes for the Zoning Board to review; nuisance-abatement letters remain in effect and will be revisited if property owners do not complete required work. The clerk also announced board training on June 2 and a June 11 meeting date.
