At the May 18 meeting, the Harlem Consolidated School District #122 board approved annual action items that included several officer and committee appointments and a change to the board’s regular meeting time.
Among the actions approved were the designation of FOIA and Open Meetings officials; adoption of policy 2:105 (Ethics and Gift Ban) for submission to the Illinois Association of School Boards; and the appointment of district hearing officers for food and residency matters. The board approved the appointment of Joshua Aurand as District Treasurer.
The board also approved shifting the Equity & Social Justice Committee to a Superintendent Advisory Committee and set the 2026–27 regular board meeting start time to 5:30 p.m., with a stated consensus to revert to a 6:00 p.m. start if scheduling conflicts continue. Items 15R and 15S were discussed before the annual consent vote; the package was approved with a recorded 6–0 vote and President Mike Sterling absent.
These governance decisions were adopted as part of the board’s annual organizational business and will be reflected in upcoming board calendars and committee communications.
