Nebraska State Fair Board accepts Aksarben scholarship funds, approves October financials

Lanna Hubbard, Finance Chair, moved that the board accept the Aksarben Foundation scholarship funds to establish future administration and distribution; Beth Smith seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. Chair Boyd Strope explained that premiums awarded during the Aksarben Stock Show are only partially paid up front and that the remaining portion is held for scholarships administered by the Aksarben Foundation; the requested change would allow the AKSS to assume management of those funds.
Earlier in the meeting, Dawn Caldwell moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the regular meeting minutes of Oct. 17, 2025; Kevin Havlovic seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll call. Tom Dinsdale moved to approve the October 2025 financials as presented; John McKeever seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
These votes were routine approvals of minutes and finance reports and a governance decision about scholarship administration; no additional dissent or amendments were recorded. The board did not specify a timetable in the motion for when operational control of the scholarship funds would transfer to AKSS.
The board also announced upcoming meetings and committee hearings related to budget review and agricultural matters.
